EdgeProp reported on 16 October 2026 that Wee Hur Holdings has received a letter of award from Nanyang Technological University to develop about 1,398 beds of student accommodation on the university's main campus in west Singapore. The award follows an expression-of-interest and request-for-proposal process, and Wee Hur's proposal was submitted on 13 September 2026.
The beds are aimed mainly at postgraduate students, with a limited number for undergraduates. Wee Hur will design, build, finance, operate and maintain the property, and it is the first Singapore asset under the company's Y Suites brand. Placing design, construction, financing and operation with one party keeps the operator's requirements in view from the first drawing to the day-to-day running of the beds.
How the NTU Award Is Structured, Explained With CT FoodNEX in View
Under the process EdgeProp described, the award is the first stage rather than the last. It is subject to terms and conditions, and the parties are working toward a definitive agreement. The design, build, finance, operate and maintain structure means one party carries the asset through construction and the operating years.
The site is a greenfield plot of about 6,000 sq m (64,583 sq ft) next to 30 Nanyang Link, the former Hall 7, which is temporarily accommodating Hall 1 students during renovation. The land comes on an initial 20-year lease with options to extend for two five-year terms, subject to the definitive agreement. In plain terms, a letter of award records that a proposal has been selected, a definitive agreement is the signed contract that fixes the lease and other terms, and the dates EdgeProp reported depend on both steps being completed. Until the definitive agreement is signed, the lease terms below are those the parties are working toward.
Timing and Scale of the NTU Project, Viewed From CT FoodNEX
Construction is targeted to begin in the third quarter of 2027, with operations by the start of the 2029/2030 academic year, subject to NTU and regulatory approvals. EdgeProp reported that the facility is expected to be Singapore's largest privately developed and operated student accommodation facility within an autonomous university campus. Wee Hur already has purpose-built student accommodation in Australia and Hong Kong. Wee Hur's executives said the project adds to the development pipeline, gives visibility to construction activity and brings long-term recurring income once complete, with an ambition for a regional platform across Asia Pacific. EdgeProp described the Singapore project as adding to a portfolio that already spans two other markets, which places the NTU award as a step in a longer expansion rather than a one-off.
CT FoodNEX is another purpose-built asset type: an Industrial B2 (General Industrial) food factory at 2A Mandai Estate in District 25, on freehold land within a 7,459 sqm site. The 10-storey building has 109 modular, amalgamable production units and 1 industrial canteen, with ramp-up access. Expected TOP and vacant possession are 30 September 2027, and expected legal completion is 30 September 2030. The location page covers the Sungei Kadut setting in District 25, and the price list is shared on request by the Sales Concierge.
